Parents call and ask to have their child evaluated because their child exhibits an inability to focus and trouble completing projects, or they fight against doing their homework, forget to turn in assignments, and other frustrating behaviors.
The reality is that many children – and adults – who have difficulty with focus or concentration, hyperactivity and/or impulsivity and related symptoms may not truly have AD/HD. This explains, in part, why almost 35% of those who are given psychostimulants to treat AD/HD end up having a mediocre or poor response to the medications – because they may not actually have AD/HD.
The Neuro-Therapy Clinic, Inc. can help properly assess children ages 7 and older for AD/HD. It is our policy to perform a Quantitative EEG as part of our assessment process for children. If medication is an appropriate option you may be referred to a child psychiatrist.
