The Neuro-Therapy Clinic, Inc. uses a variety of tests and techniques to understand whether or not a child has AD/HD. Those tests may include:
- An extended psycho-social interview;
- An assessment of symptoms, including behavior and mood disorders;
- Evaluation of medical conditions and previous medication responses;
- Questionnaires for attention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, learning styles and learning modalities;
- A continuous performance test, which evaluates attention and impulsivity, as well as whether the brain’s processing of visual and/or auditory information is interfering with functioning;
- A Quantitative EEG (QEEG) which measures the brain’s electrical activity and how it changes when faced with different challenges and/or stresses.
The QEEG, in conjunction with results from the other tests, can be the most definitive in helping us determine whether your child’s behavior is caused by AD/HD. That’s because the electrical activity in brains of children with AD/HD looks different, and can generate behavioral symptoms such as inattention, lack of focus, distractibility, impulsivity, hyperactivity and other learning difficulties.
As a result of the QEEG and testing the Neuro-Therapy Clinic can properly determine if your child has AD/HD.
