How do you know if you or a loved one has Adult AD/HD?

Evaluating patients for AD/HD has typically been a challenge, because there are many conditions that share similar symptoms. For example, individuals with depression, anxiety, mild traumatic brain injuries, or different styles of learning can all exhibit the same symptoms of AD/HD. So, the reality is that many individuals suffering from symptoms of inattention, lack of focus or concentration, hyperactivity and/or impulsivity may not truly have AD/HD, which would explain why almost 35% of those taking psychostimulants have a mediocre or poor response.

The Neuro-Therapy Clinic, Inc. can help properly evaluate patients for AD/HD. We use a variety of tests and techniques. Those tests may include: 

• An extended psycho-social interview;
  
  
• An assessment of symptoms, including behavior and mood disorders;
  
  
• Evaluation of medical conditions and previous medication responses;
  
  
• Questionnaires for attention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, learning styles and learning modalities;

• A continuous performance test, which evaluates attention and impulsivity, as well as whether the brain’s processing of visual and/or auditory information is interfering with functioning;

• A Quantitative EEG (QEEG) which measures the brain’s electrical activity and how it changes when faced with different challenges and/or stresses.
