As with children, the challenge with adults is to properly test for AD/HD.
For example, in children, hyperactivity is usually exhibited as constant squirming and moving. In adults, hyperactivity tends to exhibit more as a feeling of restlessness and agitation.
Adults with AD/HD often demonstrate patterns of procrastination, disorganization, trouble making deadlines, and impulsive behavior. While all adults may occasionally have challenges in one or more of these areas, someone with Adult AD/HD has these problems constantly, often causing problems in their relationships at home and at work.
The Neuro-Therapy Clinic, Inc. uses a variety of tests and techniques when evaluating patients for AD/HD. It is our policy to perform a Quantitative EEG on patients before prescribing medication specifically for attentional issues (eg. stimulants).
